Tugeau 2, Inc. is pleased to offer Manuscript and Book Dummy review services for picture book and early readers only. (Picture book texts up to 2500 words and Early Readers up to 25 pages of double-spaced text)

Tugeau 2, Inc. has both the resources and the expertise to offer this affordable service to our community. We’ve been doing manuscript and book dummy critiques for our represented author/illustrators and for SCBWI conferences since our inception.

Our online manuscript and book dummy review services are thorough, thoughtful, and geared toward helping you realize your publishing goals.

The Review is a one-time response to your full length picture book or early reader manuscript and/or picture book dummy. We’ll provide you with an “on the page” line-by-line copy edit and a discussion on content. We’ll let you know what’s working and what’s not and make suggestions on how to better your submission. We offer the brutal honesty and market perspective you may not be getting from your husband, sister, or current critique group!

Again, our emphasis is on children’s picture books, and we will entertain both fiction and nonfiction picture book manuscripts. Keep in mind that we are not fact-checkers and we are not Chicago Manual of Style (though we do use it!) – our response is mostly about getting your picturebook manuscript ready for submission to real, live agents and editors who are looking for manuscripts that are gramatically sound, well-written, entertaining, and likely to compete in this competitive market.

Cost for this service is $75 for a manuscript review ($100 for anything over 2500 words and up to 25 pages) and $125 for a book dummy (including manuscript) review. Please note that we’d like a clean version (without pictures) of your manuscript emailed to us even if you are submitting a book dummy.

  • To adequately serve you, we request that all manuscripts (even if you are submitting a book dummy) be submitted via EMAIL. Please send your picture book manuscripts as a Word Document or PDF – double spaced with 1 inch margins – to nicole@tugeau2.com. Entitle your email MANUSCRIPT REVIEW.
  • Book dummies may be submitted electronically as PDFs (in the same email as the manuscript) or sent through the mail in a follow-up package. We realize that book dummies are a LOT of work, so please DO NOT send your only copy. Things can and will get lost in the mail – even Fed Ex – so please have a back up. Picture book dummies must also have a “way home” – please include an SASE for return of any materials. *We will not mark up picture book dummies.*
  • Please make checks payable to Tugeau 2, Inc. or remit payment via PayPal (email address tugeau2@sbcglobal.net). $75 for manuscript review and $100 for manuscript plus book dummy review.
